The opening round of the 2019 All Japan Motocross Championship began at HSR Kyushu. The IA-1 class will have 2 heats with 30 minute + 1 lap for each heat and overall result will be announced. Yohei Kojima had a course walk and made changes to the set-up of the bike from yesterday’s qualifying race.
Taking the best option for the race, Kojima finished 7th in the first heat. In between heat 1 and 2, it started to rain and the track became fairly wet for heat 2. That did not stop Kojima from changing and in heat 2 he placed 7th until the final lap where he unfortunately crashed. Fortunately, he was able to get back into the race and finished 10th in the second heat, resulted in 8th overall.
“It was a better race compared to yesterday in both heats since I was able to ride in a good pace. In between the heats, it started to rain however, it did not change my confidence at all until the final lap where I crashed. It was a very disappointing crash however, I was able to finish 8th overall and I’m happy for that. Also Kainosuke finished 5th overall so I think we were able to get a good start of the season for Bells Racing/SoCal MXTF. We will continue to fight for the next round. Thank you very much and please look foward for the challenge of Bells Racing/SoCal MXTF.”
