Round 6 of All Japan Motocross Championship took place at Meihan Sports Land at Nara prefecture.
Welcoming the race day for team Bells Racing / SoCal MXTF and Yohei Kojima’s home course.
In Heat 1 Kojima crosses the control line in 7th position. With his steadiness and consistency, he was able to gain a spot to 5th position by lap 4. Kojima tried all his best and as a result, he overtook the rider in 4th and was able to gain a spot to 4th by lap 17 and went on to finish 4th in Heat 1.
In Heat 2, Kojima had a decent start and came back the first lap in 6th position. By lap5, he gains another position and comes 5th at this point. Furthermore, with the hard push and consistency, he moved up to 4th in lap 10 showing very strong points just behind the factory riders. The rivals hadn’t given up either however, Kojima kept his coolness and never let the rivals catch his tale to finish 4th in Heat 2.
“Today’s result was like my number 44 with finishing 4th in both heats. Just behind the factory riders. Being the top privateer team. From the start I was in 6th – 7th position and start my way through from there however, if I just had a better start, then I might have gone in front of a factory rider and also go up on the podium so I was disappointed for that.
Being the home race with many of our home fans attending to watch the race and our staff being very helpful and having a lot of fun during the race was just simply amazing. This was the best weekend I had with the team with just second year in with the team started up.
Oshiro, our IA-2 rider messed up with a crash in heat 1 however, he was able to recover from that and earned 4th in heat 2 which was a good result.
We will keep on fighting and aim for a higher result with my teammate and I would like to build up the team to be able to get in between the factory riders and try to win.
Lastly, I would like to thank our fans, our sponsors, every staff in the team, and everyone else for their kind support towards my team. I can never thank them enough.
Please look forward for our next race and we will give it our best. Thank you very much!”
